About Christina Finnie

My work reflects my interest in travel and adventure. I use my little camera as a journal and artist’s sketchpad to take notes and record visual memories. When at home in my Benicia Arsenal studio, I cut up the photos and reconfigure images  to enhance the believability and leave traces of my “hand.” I layer the top of the collage with coats of clear satin medium that contain UV protection to preserve the integrity of the colored ink in the photographs. I am interested in visual puzzles that challenge the viewer’s perception of reality. By manipulating the scale and altering the spatial relationships, I shift the viewer’s perception to a more romanticized notion of the world.
